Swimming with music can make long sessions feel shorter, help you hold a steady rhythm, and make training more enjoyable. But choosing underwater audio is different from choosing ordinary sports headphones. Water blocks normal Bluetooth signals, fit changes once you start moving, and waterproof ratings matter.
Can Bluetooth work underwater?
No. Bluetooth is useful on land, but its signal does not travel reliably through water. For swimming, use one of two methods:
- Built-in MP3 playback: load audio files onto the headphones before swimming.
- Tayogo T6 Receiving Mode: keep the T6 transmitter dry beside the pool and stream phone audio by FM to compatible Tayogo receivers.
If you want Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, YouTube or another phone app without downloading files, choose a compatible Tayogo Stream Swim Combo.
What to look for in waterproof MP3 headphones
1. A real swimming waterproof rating
Choose headphones designed for repeated underwater use rather than products described only as sweat-resistant. Tayogo swimming models are designed for IPX8 use. Always follow the depth and charging instructions supplied with the model.
2. Secure and comfortable fit
In-ear headphones can provide direct, detailed sound and help reduce water noise when the correct ear tips are used. Bone-conduction designs keep the ear canal open and can feel more natural for swimmers who dislike in-ear pressure. A swim cap or goggle strap can help keep either style stable.
3. Storage capacity
Storage determines how much music, podcasts or audiobooks you can carry without a phone. Current Tayogo W18, W24 and W26 models include 32GB MP3 storage, providing substantially more space than older 8GB models.
4. Controls you can use by touch
Buttons should be easy to identify without looking. Before entering the water, learn how to change modes, adjust volume and skip tracks.
5. Battery life for your routine
Choose enough battery capacity for several training sessions and recharge only when the charging port is completely dry.
Current Tayogo waterproof MP3 options
W18 AquaSound Pro: in-ear swimming headphones
Tayogo W18 combines 32GB MP3 playback, Bluetooth for land use, FM and Receiving Mode for the T6 transmitter. Its in-ear design is suited to swimmers who prioritize a secure seal and clear, direct sound.
W24 Rock Pro: compact bone-conduction design
Tayogo W24 Rock Pro provides 32GB MP3, Bluetooth, FM and T6 Receiving Mode. Its compact form supports multiple wearing positions and works well under a swim cap.
W26 WaveBone: long-session bone conduction
Tayogo W26 combines Bluetooth and 32GB MP3 playback in a titanium-frame bone-conduction design. It is a good choice when you mainly want local MP3 playback and do not require T6 Receiving Mode.
MP3 playback or real-time streaming?
Choose MP3 playback when you want a simple, self-contained setup and do not mind loading files before swimming. Choose a T6 Stream Swim Combo when you want to play live audio from a phone app while swimming. The phone connects to the dry T6 transmitter, and the compatible headset receives the FM signal.
For the best T6 performance, fully extend the antenna, place the transmitter in an open elevated position, keep it dry, and make sure the transmitter and headset use the same channel.
In-ear or bone conduction?
- Choose in-ear: if you prefer direct sound, a sealed fit and reduced water noise.
- Choose bone conduction: if you prefer an open-ear feel or do not like earbuds inside the ear canal.
For bone-conduction swimming, wear the supplied earplugs when needed to reduce water noise and improve perceived sound. Position the transducers close to the ear opening for stronger volume.
Care tips
- Rinse the headphones with fresh water after pool or saltwater use.
- Dry the charging contacts completely before charging.
- Do not charge or connect a cable while the product is wet.
- Check ear tips, seals and charging-port surfaces regularly.
- Store the product in a dry, ventilated place.
Frequently asked questions
Can I listen to Spotify directly through Bluetooth while underwater?
No. Bluetooth does not transmit reliably underwater. Use downloaded MP3 files or a compatible Tayogo T6 Stream Swim Combo.
Is 32GB necessary?
It is not required for short playlists, but it provides more room for long playlists, audiobooks and podcasts and reduces how often files need to be changed.
Which model replaces the discontinued W16?
The W18 AquaSound Pro is the recommended current in-ear alternative, adding 32GB storage and T6 Receiving Mode.
